Projects and Samples of my work

Here is a selection of work I have done as a web designer, as well as some written material I have done over the years.

Nightlight Productions

Nightlight Productions: 2007

This was a fun re-working of my friend's website. While the site remained true to its very, very green-colored roots, this template was designed to feature a tableless structure, and also included CSS image rollovers. Just for kicks, I also designed it without using any img tags.

metall.us: 2006-2007

This is an earlier personal homepage that I recently retired. The design was rather simple (essentially greyscale plus pastel shapes), but it was definitely unique from my previous work. It was also my first major plunge into tableless, pure CSS-driven design. Apologies for the small sample screenshot! I will get a larger sample in there soon.

Older Stuff

Grim Fandango Network

The Grim Fandango Network: 2002

This was one of my earliest designs, but I'm still kind of proud of it. The black-dominated template dates it a bit, but I think it still holds up fairly well.

Snuckey's Online

Snuckey's Online: 2002

Snuckey's was my first attempt to incorporate real-world objects into my website designs. The highway signs of this template later inspired the office-junk theme of the fifth Grim Fandango Network redesign.

Grim Fandango Network

The Grim Fandango Network: 2003

This was a real departure from previous Grim Fandango Network designs, in that it totally avoided black and purple wherever possible. It was short-lived, but I thought it was a fun undertaking that really tested my understanding of Photoshop.

Nightlight Productions

Nightlight Productions: 2004

A fairly simple design, the only requirement was that it be green, and I believe that I delivered. The 3D character models and wood planks in the side menu were brought in a few months after I'd completed the template.

Academic Work

Puzzle Pirates Project:

During my final year of university studies (2005-2006), I researched and wrote a thesis for my Anthropology degree. The subject was player innovation and constraints within a massively multiplayer game environment, and it turned out to be one of the most challenging tasks I had ever completed. I have made it available below.
